ABE Awards (2016)

The V(i)llage celebrated ending the 2015-16 academic year with our 2nd Annual Acknowledging Black Excellence Awards (ABEA) at the University of Utah.

During the last three years of The V(i)llage we have been able to holistically focus on routing our students to college within the classroom through our curriculum, at the higher education level by taking them on college visits to the University of Utah and Weber State University and by celebrating their successes. The Acknowledging Black Excellence Awards provides an additional opportunity for public celebration of student achievement. Below are a few pictures of our 2nd annual event, which will be followed by the upcoming 3rd Acknowledging Black Excellence Awards (2017) at the University of Utah.

Northwest Middle School Vice Principal Claustina Mahon-Reynolds was selected as The V(i)llage Liaison of the Year for unflinching dedication to the growth of Black students.
